Food, Liberal Arts & Ortman Wines

I work in marketing at Wabash College. The wine writing is entirely a sideline for me which I really enjoy. Sometimes the two paths cross. I do assist the College caterer with selection of wines for big events. The Wabash alumni office hosted a symposium on food and the liberal arts Feb. 18. Of course, the evening concluded with a wonderful meal. I was asked to pick the wines and choose two Ortman Family Vineyards selections from Paso Robles.

  • Ortman wines represent a very food-friendly style - lighter than many but still full-bodied for food. The dinner featured pork with an apple garnish while the beef was cooked pretty straight forward with salt, pepper, garlic.
